Decubitus Ulcer, Pressure Ulcer, Bed Sore

A Decubitus Ulcer starts when a pressure is administered to a certain skin area, preventing the blood from reaching skin cells and providing them with the nourishment they need in order to function as well as survive. Once a skin area is deprived of oxygen and nourishment, skin cells starts dieing within an hour to three hours period and the skin becomes red and irritated and some times has hematoma (stage 1).
A continuation of pressure and prevention of blood circulation will worsen the condition of the skin turning it very dry and purple (stage 1). A continuation of the pressure and deprivation of oxygen from the damaged area, will lead to blisters and wounds with surrounding red irritated area and swelling (stage 2), the skin is also becoming very dry and releases bacteria decaying and eating through the skin (stages 3). A continuation of the same conditions of pressure and infection can create a skin cavity reaching the bones (stage 4).

The symptoms developed are:
1. Dry skin
2. Lack of nourishment
3. Redness and irritation
4. Inflammation and blisters
5. Infection and blisters
6. No process of scaring of infected area and this causes the continuation of Skin and flesh decay (open wounds).
The CLEADERMA™ DCB is specially designed to fight bed sores from early stages 1-2 preventing them from reaching critical stages 3 and 4, by directly targeting those six symptoms mentioned above, boosting skin nourishment with 27 minerals found in the Dead Sea as well as natural Vitamins A, E and D found in the Avocado oil, fighting lose of elasticity, relaxing the infected skin and surrounding area with Aloe Vera extract, eliminating bacteria and infections with Chamomile, Marjoram and Salvia oil extracts and fighting the lack of scaring with Calendula concentrated oil and Salvia oil extract.
The CLEADERMA™ DCB is used for treating stages 1 to 2 and 3.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Avocado Oil
A study done at the Department of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 1991, found that Avocado Oil significantly increases the amount of collagen in the skin - which normally is under attack, as we grow older.
Avocado oil, is rich in vitamins A, D and E, lecithin, as well as potassium: known as the youth mineral, it contains proteins, lecithin, beta-carotene and more than twenty percent essential unsaturated fatty acids. The fatty acids contained are palmitic, palmitoleic, stearic, oleic, linoleic and linolenic.
Avocado oil is easily absorbed into deep tissue, and with its wonderfully emollient properties, makes it ideal for mature, dehydrated, undernourished damaged skin helping skin regeneration and tissue softening while relieving dryness and itching.
In Decubitus Ulcer the Avocado Oil is used for treating symptoms 1 to 3.
Dead Sea Minerals
Dead Sea minerals are rich in Magnesium and encourage rejuvenation of skin cells. Bromide – relieves and heals skin problems – Chloride help in balancing the minerals in the body, Calcium- strengthens the epidermal cell membranes and alleviates pain, Sodium and Potassium – energizes and revitalizes the skin
In Decubitus Ulcer the Dead Sea Minerals are used for treating symptoms 1 to 3 and symptom number 6.
Salvia Extract (in Olive Oil) Sage
There are many medicinal uses for this important herb. Modern research has confirmed antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties in extracts from sage. It reduces hot flashes and sweating as well as reduction muscle spasms. Salvia helps disinfecting the area of the Decubitus Ulcer and the wound itself allowing other active ingredients to work in a clean unstressed environment.
In Decubitus Ulcer the Salvia (Sage) Extract is used for treating symptoms 3 to 5.
Calendula
Calendula is commonly used on the skin to treat minor skin wounds.
Calendula, also known as marigold, has been widely used on the skin to treat minor wounds, skin infections, burns, bee stings, sunburn, warts, and cancer. Most scientific evidence regarding its effectiveness as a wound-healing agent is based on animal and laboratory study. One study in breast cancer patients receiving radiation therapy suggests that calendula ointment may be helpful in preventing skin dermatitis (irritation, redness, and pain).
The flavonoids, found in high amounts in calendula, account for much of its anti-inflammatory activity; triterpene saponins may also be important. Calendula also contains carotenoids
The salve or dilute tincture is good for bruises, sprains, pulled muscles, sores, and boils.
Considered a natural antiseptic by homeopaths. Used also for treating cuts, bruises, sores and burns.
In Decubitus Ulcer the Calendula Oil Extract is used for treating symptoms 4 to 6.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera contains up of 70 positive active ingredients essential to the body, including vitamin B12, minerals, enzymes, protein and amino acids. The extract helps to alleviate irritation of the skin and gives relief in the case of burns, bites and sunburn.
Vitamins
It is rich in all vitamins excluding Vitamin D, especially the antioxidant Vitamins A (beta-carotene), C and E and even contains a trace of Vitamin B12, one of the very few plant sources of this vitamin.
Enzymes
Several different types of these biochemical catalysts when taken orally aid digestion by breaking down fat and sugars.
One in particular, Bradykinase, helps to reduce excessive inflammation when applied to the skin topically and therefore reduces pain, whereas others help digest any dead tissues in wounds. Lipases and Proteases, which break down foods and aid digestion, are present.
Minerals
Calcium, Sodium Potassium, Manganese, Magnesium, Copper, Zinc, Chromium and the anti-oxidant Selenium.
Although minerals and trace elements are only needed in very small quantities, they are essential for the proper functioning of various enzyme systems in different metabolic pathways.
Sugars
Derived from the mucilage layer of the plant, which surrounds the inner gel and are known as mucopolysaccharides, which enhance the immune system and help to detoxify. Aloe Vera contains both mono and polysaccharides, but the most important are the long chain sugars involving glucose and mannose or the Gluco-mannans. In topical preparations the sugars are also the main moisturizers.
Anthraquinones
There is twelve of these Phenolic compounds, which are found exclusively in the plant sap. They have anti-microbial and pain killing effects. They also function as anti-bacterial and anti-viral.
Lignin
this in itself is an inert substance but when included in topical preparations it endows Aloe Vera with a singular penetrative effect so the other ingredients are absorbed into the skin.
Saponins
These soapy substances form about 3% of the Aloe Vera gel and are capable of cleansing, having antiseptic properties. These act powerfully as anti-microbial against bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeasts.
Fatty Acids
Cholesterol, Campesterol, b. Sisosterol and Lupeol.
These four plant steroids are important anti-inflammatory agents.
Salicylic acid
An aspirin-like compound possessing anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
Amino Acids
The body needs 22 amino acids – the gel provides 20 of these. More importantly, it provides 7 out of the 8 essential Amino Acids, which the body cannot synthesize.
In Decubitus Ulcer the Aloe Vera is used for treating symptoms 1 to 6.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin with Antioxidant properties.
Vitamin E supplements are available in natural or synthetic forms. Vitamin E has been proposed for the prevention or treatment of numerous health conditions, often based on its Antioxidant properties.
In Decubitus Ulcer the Vitamin E is used for treating symptoms 1 to 3.
Chamomile
The extracts of German Chamomile (M. recutita) has been ascribed in herbal medicine to be carminative and anti-inflammatory. It is also used in ointments, lotions, and as a mouthwash against infections of mouth and gums
Chamomile flowers are used in alternative medicine as an anodyne, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, nervine, stomachic, tonic, vasodilator. The anti-inflammatory properties make it good for rheumatism, arthritis, and other painful swellings.
In Decubitus Ulcer the Chamomile Extract is used for treating symptoms 3 to 6.
2. Lack of nourishment
3. Redness and irritation
4. Inflammation and blisters
5. Infection and blisters
6. No process of scaring of infected area and this causes the continuation of Skin and flesh decay (open wounds).
